Meet Winta the parrot who shows us his amazing bird tricks! Winta was one of our Series 3 Smart Pets and he was a star in front of the camera as you can see in the video above.

Did you know that male and female parrot species look exactly alike? For most species of parrot, it takes an experts eye and sometimes even a lab test to determine the sex. Unfortunately, habitat destruction and poaching for the pet trade has placed many parrots on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species so it’s important that we support this species.

If you’ve ever thought about getting a parrot as a pet, they can be a wonderful companion. Do you research first as they have different needs to dogs and require different things? As a general rule you’ll be better off with a hand-reared male parrot as they tend to be more friendly, will interact better and they are less prone to suffering from breathing-related illnesses.
