Dog friendly activities in Geelong and surrounds

Play Video

If you are looking for some dog friendly activities in Geelong, then check out our video that highlights the things to do and see in and around the Bellarine Peninsula, including the Bay Doggy Trek that is run by Gourmet Pawprints.

Gourmet Pawprints have designed some amazing dog friendly activities, tours and experiences that are 100% dedicated to ensuring you and your dog see a side to Melbourne and the wider area like no other.

Gourmet Pawprints started out over 6 years ago with Doggy Winery Tours to regional Victoria, and they were such a success they now offer many other fabulous dog friendly activities and experiences all year round.

Each experience is carefully designed and everything is done for you so all you have to do is put your paws up and enjoy the day.

While filming our TV segment about the dog friendly activities in Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula, Pooches at Play Co-host Morgan met up with the Gourmet Pawprints bus Bella and Founder Kerry Watt to join her and their guests on the Bellarine Peninsula side of The Bay Doggy Trek.

The Bay Doggy Trek includes wandering coastal treks on both sides of the Port Phillip Bay with a trip on Searoad Ferries and transfers on ‘Bella’ the Dog Welcoming bus at each end.  There is a stop for morning tea in Geelong and an individual picnic basket lunch in Queenscliff, a town rich in maritime history and incredibly picturesque.

The easy grade walks include a 5km along the pristine waters from Point Lonsdale to Queenscliff. On the Sorrento side there a 3km trek poking around millionaire views from the cliff tops before boarding Bella for the journey home.

Over the years, the Gourmet Pawprints dog friendly activities and experiences have grown to not only include the Doggy Winery Tours and Doggy Treks, but also their Paws and Pours High Teas, Doggy Picnic Adventures, Doggy Walking Tours and even an annual Truffle Hunt.

‘Bella’ is their 45 seat coach style bus, with a maximum of about 12 dogs allowed on board, and is fitted with both human and dog seat belts, climate controlled and has a dedicated first aid station, loads of water, extra leads, collars and harnesses and even a gift trolley for all the necessary pooch accessories.

Each tour has a dedicated host and driver who are both skilled dog carers and they ensure the dogs are socialised and have the time to get to know one another before heading off on their adventure together.

Safety is paramount, so all dogs must be desexed and vaccinated to a Canine Level 5 vaccination, which includes the annual canine cough. If you have a dog that has some mild behaviour issues, it is a good idea to check out the articles in our Training & Behaviour section to help too.
