If you are looking for a luxurious pet-friendly staycation in the heart of Melbourne’s Southbank, then The Langham Melbourne Pampered Pet package is for you.

Recently I took Darcy to stay at The Langham Melbourne for a special treat and share some tips to help ensure that you and your dog are well prepared and can abide by some basic hotel etiquette so as to not disturb other guests.

Basic tips for staying in a pet-friendly hotel

Dogs must be on leash anytime your pet is in a public area within the hotel including the main entrance and check-in.Cats are welcome at The Langham Melbourne too, so it is recommended they are brought in and out of the hotel in a cat carry box.

Never leave your pet alone outside.

Make sure your pet is up to date with their vaccinations, flea and worming treatments, and take along their favourite toys or a blanket to help them feel a little more comfortable in their new surroundings.

Don’t forget their food and treats, poo bags and any medications and check anything else you may need to bring.

You won’t be able to leave your dog alone in your bedroom either, so plan ahead and book a local pet sitter.

Behaviour

When choosing a hotel stay in particular with your dog, it’s important you get on top of any behavioural issues such as barking, jumping or reactivity. This is vital for your own, your dog’s and other guest’s comfort and safety.

Toileting

It’s important that your dog is toilet trained and that you take them regularly outside to do their business and look out for any signs that they might need to go such sniffing around the room, tucking in their bottom or cocking their leg. If you do, quickly interrupt them and take them outside.

Things to do while staying at The Langham Melbourne

The Langham Melbourne’s location is perfect for exploring the city with your pooch.

There are plenty of outdoor cafes and restaurants so check which ones welcome pets.

You can take a cruise with your pet and you are also just a short stroll to the Royal Botanic Gardens.

You can purchase these as a memento of your stay if you wish.
