In this segment, co-host Lara Shannon finds out exactly what it means when our pet food labels say “Human Grade Pet Food” and she has Chris Essex from Big Dog Pet Food to help explain what it means and why it’s important.

The term ‘Human Grade Pet Food’ means that the food comes from a human-grade facility (commonly called an abattoir) and then ‘Pet Grade Meat’ means that the food comes from a knackery. The differences between the two phrases involve differences in production processes, the types of meat used, and inspections qualities – quite important factors when it comes to the production of our meat.

At Big Dog Pet Food they ensure the meat in their products is fit for human consumption.

If you’d like to change your dog to a raw food diet here are some tips on how to make the transition.
