My dog hates getting wet – tips for a water free wash

dog hates getting wet

Many pet owners struggle to groom their pets because their pet either hates getting wet, the weather is too cold, or it’s simply a messy task with a big, wet dirty dog escaping through the house!

For many dogs, having a bath is one of their worst nightmares.  They don’t understand how beautiful they may look afterwards, or how much we appreciate their sweet washed smell over doggy odour, so it can be quite a scary experience. Particularly, if they have had a bad experience with the bath, shower water in the past, particularly during their critical period of development as a puppy where any bad experience will be remembered for life!

Thank goodness there are options out there to help you extend the time between washes, and help you reduce excess oil and the dreaded dirty dog odour! Here are a few easy to use products to try on your little mate to help keep them clean and smelling fresh without the need for too many baths:

1. Dry Shampoo:  Rufus & Coco Water Free Wash is a dry grooming powder that is suitable for all breeds and dog ages. It contains safe, natural ingredients to:

  • Clean by absorbing natural oils and dirt
  • Neutralise odour in the coat, leaving it with a fresh, hypoallergenic scent
  • Add volume and body to the coat
  • Safe if licked!

2. Fragranced Detangling Spray: Rufus & Coco 4in1 Pamper Spray is a pH balanced wonder spray that:

  • Contains natural, safe ingredients including almond oil, wheat proteins, vitamin E and panthenol
  • Removes tangles and reduces static
  • Deodorises the coat with a fresh, hypoallergenic scent
  • Leaves the coat smooth and glossy
  • Has a UV filter to reduce sun damage and bleaching

Ear Cleaner: Rufus & Coco Ear & Wound Care is a gentle, medicated cleaning liquid formulated to:

  • Remove accumulated wax build up in the ears
  • Gently dry out the ear and reduce inflammation
  • Also great for cleaning scratches, irritated skin and hot spots

It is also important to note that oils play an important role in keeping a dog’s skin and coat healthy, so if your dog is suffering dry or flaky skin through a lack of oils, or has excess oil in it’s skin and coat, then an infection may be present.

In all instances it is important to seek veterinary advice for any skin, coat or ear conditions that seem out of the ordinary.
