Play Video

In this segment, Pooches at Play Host Gyton Grantley meets Sarah the owner of two gorgeous dachshunds, Maluka and Avalon to find out about Maluka’s experience with IVDD. IVDD or intervertebral disc disease is a painful and debilitating condition involving the cushioning discs (intervertebral discs) between the vertebrae of the spinal column. IVDD is categorised into Type 1 and Type 2. Type 1 involves a hardening and increased brittleness of the outer layer of the disc and Type 2 is a generalised hardening of the disc over time. Some breeds are more prone than others with Dachshunds, Beagles and Basset Hounds at the top of the list. Watch our segment to find out more about this disease, the signs and symptoms to look out for and the treatment options available.
